Alisha Thakkar joined Himelfarb Proszanski as an associate in 2022 after completing her articles with the firm. Alisha primarily focuses on the areas of commercial litigation and family law. During her time at Himelfarb Proszanski, Alisha has been involved in a wide range of civil and commercial disputes ranging from real estate to employment litigation matters.

Alisha’s passion for family law stemmed from her studies in developmental psychology where she came to understand the substantial impact family dynamics and environment have on child development. Thus, Alisha strives to employ a child-focused approach to all family law cases while ensuring that financial disputes are resolved efficiently, taking into consideration the unique circumstances of each client. Alisha has experience with matters pertaining to property division claims, spousal and child support claims and parenting disputes.

Alisha graduated from Queen’s University with a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degree in psychology and subsequently returned to Queen’s University to earn her Juris Doctor degree. Throughout law school, Alisha was heavily involved in Pro Bono Students Canada as well as the Queen’s Family Law Clinic.
