A class action has been launched on behalf of the current and former franchisees of the Pet Planet Franchise Corporation (“the Franchisor”) against the Franchisor and its related companies and representatives. The relief claimed includes damages arising from the defendants’ alleged misconduct, including misrepresentations, breaches of statutory and contractual obligations, including the Franchisor’s duty of good faith and fair dealing under section 7 of the Alberta Franchises Act, breach of trust and unjust enrichment in relation to an advertising fund, and breach of the franchisees’ right to associate.
